What is Pueraria Mirifica?

Pueraria Mirifica has been used in Thailand for medicinal purposes for many years, mainly as a female hormone supplement. Pueraria mirifica is a plant found in the wild in Myanmar and Northeastern Thailand. The term pueraria mirifica was coined in 1952.

Pueraria mirifica root bulb, when ground, offers a unique herbal hormone supplement.  Pueraria mirifica powder is unprecedented in terms of women's health, menopausal symptoms, longevity and other benefits from its rich content in Mirosterol that activates the body’s natural female hormone receptors. It's also an excellent topical skin care & beauty treatment for removing wrinkles, breast enlargement, breast firming & enhancement, and rejuvenating sagging skin.

Other Features of Pueraria Mirifica:

Pueraria Mirifica contains a valuable phytoestrogen named miroestrol. Miroestrol is similar to the safest human estrogen estriol. Miroestrol is 3000 times stronger than the estrogenic activity exhibited by soy isoflavones (genistein) and 1000 times that of red clover. In addition to miroestrol, Pueraria Mirifica contains substantial amounts of other phytoestrogens including daidzein, genistein, puerarin, and mirificin. The industry standard is measured by HPLC chromatogram image in the later phyto-chemicals mentioned. When miroestrol enters an estrogen receptor it modulates the effect on the receptor. Pueraria Mirifica supplements when the estrogenic activity is low and dilutes if the receptor estrogenic activity is high. Miroestrol has no effect on estrogen levels in the body as it only influences the estrogen receptor.

Why should you consider Pueraria Mirifica on a regular basis ?

Pueraria Mirifica is best known and marketed for its breast enlargement properties. However, breast enlargement is actually a "side effect" of“ the herb.

Breast Enlargement

Many women who have used Pueraria Mirifica have experienced significant breast growth after regular use over time. They haven’t only witnessed the increased size but also the reduction in winkles around the cleavage. And most importantly this augmentation is in the most natural way possible and free from side effects and surgical incisions.

This growth in breast size induced by the ingestion of Pueraria Mirifica is not temporary, but permanent, however maintenance doses of Pueraria Mirifica are helpful from time to time.  This phenomenon has been substantiated by several studies, many of which have been done in the birthplace of this root, which is Thailand.

A link to an example of such a study is provided below as (Clinical Study & Practice on Pueraria Mirifica….)

Vaginal dryness and atrophy

A study from the Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibody Hospital, Mahidol University, Thailand, says "Pueraria mirifica 100 and 1,000 mg/kg/day showed an estrogen-like effect on the vaginal and urethral epithelium of ovariectamozied rats."

Similar outcomes also suggested from other studies, including alleviate vaginal dryness symptoms and dyspareunia, improve signs of vaginal atrophy, and restore the atrophy vaginal epithelium in healthy postmenopausal women.

Due to its therapeutic benefits, P. Mirifica becomes one of favorites ingredients to be used in female tightening products, especially to rejuvenate female genital organs and overcome vaginal dryness.

Though you cannot expect to make your vagina tighter instantly like using Oak Gall and Witch Hazel due to their tannin contents, however, it's one of the most potent herbs and safe to counter atrophic vagina and rejuvenate vaginal walls and muscles in certain time-frames. Other potent herbs with strong estrogenic activities including Oak Gall, Witch Hazel, Curcuma Comosa, Black Cohosh, and Fenugreek. They all have certain isoflavones with unique mineral components. The different thing between these herbs is, only Oak Gall and Witch Hazel that have tannins content which can constrict the skin instantly and keep the collagen and elastin in the tissue last longer, including those in your vaginal walls and lips

In a clinical study on menopausal women in Thailand miroestrol lowered hot flashes 11 fold and night sweats 4 fold within 30 days. Most women start to notice relief of symptoms within one week.  This study is referenced in the links below as (Efficacy and safety of Pueraria mirifica…..

Postmenopausal women are more inclined to use natural remedies to alleviate postmenopausal symptoms and help reduce their risk for chronic diseases such as osteoporosis. Recent reports support the notion that certain bioactive constituents, e.g., phytoestrogens, in plants play a role in maintaining or improving skeletal health.

Vaginal Health

In a Thailand Ministry of Public Health study, 85% of women taking 800 mg/day had increased vaginal lubrication. This can improve pleasure during intercourse especially in post-menopausal women that have decreased natural vaginal lubrication. Additionally, Pueraria Mirifica has been touted as an aphrodisiac that naturally increases ones libido.

In the same study that measured breast enlargement/firmness by the Thailand Ministry of Public Healthy, researchers also found it improved hair’s appearance. Specifically, in 88% of patients taking 800 mg/day, hair was found to be less brittle, gray and reduced hair fall compared to the group taking the placebo. In patients taking 400 mg/day, 75% of them mirrored these results.

Pueraria Mirifica has been shown to increase collagen production in the skin. This increases skins firmness and elasticity making it appear more youthful. This explains why many high-end anti-aging cosmetic lotions incorporate Pueraria Mirifica in its formula. Also, the collagen increasing properties contribute to Pueraria Mirifica’s ability to make breasts firmer.

When Pueraria mirifica is taken as a dietary supplement, its phytoestrogen constituents will naturally alleviate symptoms occurring as a result of the aging process and a deficiency in estrogen levels, e.g. sagging breasts, wrinkled skin, bone loss, and gray hair. The claim of anti-aging and rejuvenation effects of this plant appears to be from these [coumarins, flavonoids (daidzein, daidzin, genestin, genistein, puerarin) and chromene (miroestrol)] compounds, especially miroestrol which is a known potent estrogenic principle

Breast Cancer

A series of studies involving breast cell lines and the activity of Pueraria mirifica in vitro have been performed by the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Phramongkutklao College of Medicine, Bangkok, Thailand. These studies have shown that Pueraria mirifica root extract has potent anti-estrogenic properties against aggressive cell cancer lines in vitro, especially the proliferative estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer lines (T47-D, MCF-7, and ZR-75-1) obtained from the MD Anderson Cancer Institute (Texas) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).

We must take this claim with a grain of salt as Pueraria Mirifica has not been approved as a treatment for breast cancer. That being said, research suggests it could be effective in preventing breast cancer or at least lowering the risk of it.  More research is needed to elucidate the link between Pueraria Mirifica and breast cancer but for now it is safe to say taking Pueraria Mirifica will certainly not increase and may decrease one’s risk for breast cancer.

Weight Loss

Another Pueraria Mirifica benefit is its aid during weight loss. This is yet again gaining the plant a name in the health and fitness industries in the Western world.

The plant reduces appetite which can help people lose weight progressively. By reducing the appetite, people are less likely to give in to cravings and overeat.

Male Pattern Baldness

Pueraria Mirifica can help to correct pattern baldness in men.
